Radical Transparency

I remember a college communications professor saying that when you have devastating news it’s best to let someone know about it as early as possible. For example, George Bush told us all that he used heavy drugs in the 1980’s before Al Gore could tell us. This removed the ’shock’ effect Al Gore would have had when he revealed this blow.

Following that thought many established and start up companies (ie: Microsoft) are now openly encouraging community conversation by employees. This has helped develop businesses in many scenarios where business would have otherwise died. Not only with bad press, but all press.

Is any press good press? I don’t know but I do know that showing your hand is becoming more popular and that encouraging community involvement is leading to stronger devlopment.
